Welcome to my website.

I have posted the new workshops that run from October 2010 to June 2011. They are filling at an incredible rate. Thank you for such enthusiatic interest and support. Please do e-mail to be wait-listed for workshops that are full as it looks like I may run a second workshop of some sessions,, particularly the Japanese Paper, Masa Paper, and Textile sessions.

We are going to have our first "Surface Explorations Art Retreat" at Camp Arnes at the end of May 2011. There are four spaces left, so if you are intereested, act quickly.

Thank you to all who have taken time to check out my show at Fleet Gallery, 65 Albert Street.Your comments, questions, e-mails, and purchases, of course, are all appreciated. To date, forty one of the forty-six 12 x12 paintings have sold in support of "Open Doorways Orphanage", a projeect of my friend, Sharon Dugard. The show continues to July 23.

The pictures shown below from the show are actually 30 x 60 inches large. In all there are fourteen different paintings this size.

Thirty five years of experiencing all aspects of the arts through teaching and performance has resulted in my finally settling into my own groove as an experimental mixed media artist.

Art for me is about relationships.  In some strange way, the people in my life, whom I value above everything else, are living works of art.  Together, we work to find a balance as we experience life; analyzing, interpreting, and sorting through the various life events that confront us.  It’s all about problem solving.  And that is exactly what my painting is---experience and problem solving in space. Layers of texture, paint, and embedded objects are manipulated below and on the surface to create images that evolve as elements of design and composition creating architecture in paint, communicating my feelings.  It’s really very simple.  I react to my art surfaces the same way I interact with the people in my life.

Compositional problem solving and working through life are very similar.  Things get messy in both cases.  So, you take a good look…..best done with your mouth shut.  Then you find some structure, patterns--some strength.  Enhance what is useful and good, eliminate what is unnecessary, and work with what you have to add as a way of solving the problem.  Finding or developing a focal point is always useful. And if the result is something a bit eccentric, excessive, glitzy and over the top---bravo!

So there it is.  Please browse through the website to see what I do, workshops that are offered, and shows where you can see my work.
